The Company On-Hold Plus is a registered trademark of IntelliTouch Communications. Intellitouch, based in San Diego, California, and founded in 1988, is the pioneer and market leader in the design and manufacture of message/music-on-hold hardware and software.
Innovations
On-Hold Plus developed the first commercially viable music-on-hold adapter (MOH 150) in 1997 under the On-Hold Plus brand name. This innovation gave - for the first time ever - the 40 million-plus small office/home office (SOHO) businesses the ability to play professional on-hold music and messages for their customers.
In 1998, On-Hold Plus introduced the first reliable, affordable, multi-user music-on-hold adapter (MOH 400), as well as the first affordable digital on-hold player/recorder (OHP 3000). The year 1998 also marked the creation of the first new software products from On-Hold Plus.
In 2000, On-Hold Plus introduced the OHP 5000 - the first digital on-hold audio playback unit with an integrated CD audio drive. The OHP 5000 allows on-hold audio dealers, as well as end-user consumers, to take advantage of the readily accessible and inexpenisve technology of burning custom audio CDs on their PC, which could then be recorded into the OHP 5000's digital memory. The OHP-5000 was honored at the 2001 International Consumer Electronics Show with a "Best of Show" award.
In 2001, On-Hold Plus introduced the OHP 4000, an externally recordable digital player/recorder bundled with the award-winning MessageStudio software. The OHP 4000 was also honored at the 2001 International Consumer Electronics Show with an Innovations award.
HoldWare (January 1999) further revolutionized the on-hold industry by taking the functions of a hardware-based, on-hold-message playback unit and moving it to the PC desktop. This groundbreaking new product takes separate music and voice files and mixes them on-the-fly, sending the audio output through the PC's sound card - a process which was formerly conducted in a professional digital production facility at high cost to the user. With HoldWare, users can now e-mail scripts written with the writer component of the program (CustomWorks) and receive professionally produced messages which they can plug into the program for playback - all without the expense of a professional digital production facility. The software even allows the user to record messages, in their own voice, at any time to add to the mix.
From HoldWare, IntelliTouch developed a new version of the software called MessageStudio. MessageStudio allowed users of the company's flagship OHP 3000 product to take advantage of the ease-of-use brought to the market by the HoldWare software product. MessageStudio now comes bundled with the commercial OHP 3000 product.
Awards
In 2001 On-Hold Plus products were recognized by the consumer electronics and telecommunications industries. The OHP 5000 and OHP 4000 products individually received the prestigious Innovations Award - the most recognized awards program in the consumer electronics industry. It is endorsed by the Industrial Designers Society of America and sponsored by the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA), a sector of the Electronic Industries Association. The OHP 5000 received "Best of Show" at the 2001 International CES.
The OHP 5000 was also awarded "Editors Choice" and "Product of the Year" awards by "Teleconnect" magazine in 2000. "Teleconnect" is the Telecom Industry's leading publication and the authority in reviewing on-hold music and message solutions.
